Fee Policy Statement

Our terms of business apply to all instructions we receive. In keeping with both professional obligations and the firm’s commitment to quality service and foster good client relations, we maintain a transparent costs policy:

  1. On each transaction the firm gives not only a statement of the charging rates for the relevant work but also an estimate for the completion of the work.
  2. Save in exceptional circumstances, advance warning is given where costs are likely to exceed the original estimate.
  3. Hourly rates are fully inclusive of all internal copying, telephone and postal charges. No up-lift is applied to the hourly charging rate notified at the beginning of a transaction. Individual charging rates may be increased if there is exceptional complexity or value but only on prior written notice.
  4. For transactions potentially involving liability of more than £3M, special single-premium professional indemnity cover is available and chargeable at cost. We limit our liability to the level of cover.

  1. We reserve the right to increase our charging rates at any time on prior notice. If the circumstances change during a transaction then prior notification to any effect on costs (including any increase in charging rates) would be given.
  2. We normally charge on a time basis as we find this is financially better for clients in most circumstances. Fixed fee agreements can be reached but, in order to maintain standards of service, we will build in a fair additional margin.
  3. At any time clients are welcome to inspect all time records relating to their files. Additional costs breakdowns are available upon request.
  4. We do not use long narratives to justify large fees. On occasion, the transaction will warrant a more detailed narrative but in most cases a brief summary will suffice, accompanied, where requested, by a copy of the time records.
